San Francisco Conservation Corps

The San Francisco Conservation Corps (SFCC) is a non-profit job and academic training organization serving young people ages 18-26. Corpsmembers develop their job and academic skills, leadership abilities and environmental awareness by completing outreach, conservation and community service projects throughout the city. Corpsmembers at the Project and Education Center may specialize in one of two areas. Some Corpsmembers perform public space improvement projects such as installing playstructures, bike racks, and creating picnic areas, and providing habitat restoration services for local and state agencies.

Other Corpsmembers develop their work skills and environmental knowledge while leading educational programs for Presidio visitors and performing restoration and maintenance activities throughout the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

The SFCC, in association with the John Muir Charter School, offers Corpsmembers the opportunity to work toward their high school Diploma or GED, as well as prepare for college and/or completing a career development plan and portfolio that serve as a guide for their pursuit of further education or employment.
