Organization Summary
San Francisco Conservation Corps (SFCC) provides professional job‐training and educational development opportunities for individuals 18‐26 years of age through a variety of environmentally focused, community service‐based programs. In coordination with job‐training and educational attainment, SFCC offers wrap‐around services, such as housing assistance and mental health and wellness referrals, aimed at reducing social and financial barriers and uplifting low‐income and disadvantaged communities in San Francisco. SFCC focuses on two job‐training pathways: natural resources management and recycling. Natural resources management projects include habitat restoration, fire fuel reduction, plant care and farming, landscaping maintenance, and trail building. Recycling projects include the collection of and education around recycling beverage containers, e‐waste, waste tires, and used oil.
Job Summary
The Communication & Recruitment Coordinator works in the Planning and Evaluation Department and in the planning, preparation, and implementation of outreach, recruitment, and orientation services for new and potential Corpsmembers at the SFCC. They are also responsible for updating SFCC’s website and social media channels, and coordinating with and assisting the Director of Planning and Evaluation in creating, editing, and revising written reports, media releases, and other documents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Outreach & Recruitment: Developing, revising, and distributing recruitment flyers; preparing, presenting, and assisting with presentations; assisting with preparation, implementation, and presentation of SFCC Information Sessions and applicant interviews; and assisting with preparation, implementation, and presentation of new Corpsmember Orientation and other retention services. Managing online applications. Recruitment will be for a year-round program and a summer program.
Communications: Working with the Director of Planning and Evaluation to update SFCC website, www.sfcc.org as well as SFCC social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter). Assist the Director of Planning and Evaluation in the production of fundraising requests, press releases, and organizational reports.
Administrative Support: Making phone calls, sending correspondence (mailouts, email) and collecting documentation for data entry; scheduling interviews, photocopying materials; compiling information/packets; updating recruitment and contact spreadsheet; scanning and uploading documents; assisting with maintaining files.
Development and Training: Participate in orientation and required training sessions; learn and adhere to SFCC policies and procedures; take and follow directions and instructions from appropriate staff members; take care of all issues equipment and SFCC property; follow schedules and attendance requirements; fulfill performance expectations, follow all SFCC standards and expectations related to conducting a respectful workplace, work and get along with co-workers and SFCC staff.
Leadership and Communications: Represent SFCC at community meetings, outreach events, recruitment and job fair events and other meetings; Maintain respectful communication with co-workers, corpsmembers, John Muir Charter School Staff at all times.
Data and Reporting: Assist with data input and reporting into Launchpad, SFCC’s database built on the Salesforce platform. The data from Launchpad is reported to various SFCC funding sources and the Communications and Recruitment Coordinator will need to work with SFCC’s Data Analyst and the Corpsmember Development staff on these reports. This will include tracking documents and narratives, for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Coordination: Coordinates with all relevant staff in closely tracking program required outcomes, project solutions to problem areas, and maintain a professional working partnership with program funders (as needed)
Typical Working Conditions
Typical conditions include working in an office setting; constant keyboarding, handling, and other repetitive hand motions; and constant sitting. Work conditions also include visiting various neighborhoods in San Francisco by vehicle and walking. Also standing longer periods of time for recruiting events.
Minimum Requirements
At least 21 years of age
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Minimum of 3 year of experience with one or more of the following service areas: community outreach, participant recruitment, public speaking, new participant orientation, intake services, or related other related work.
Ability to work independently on and off-site
Knowledge of and comfortable with using Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Valid CA Driver’s License and ability to be covered on agency license (preferred)
