Most Corpsmembers do
not have a high school
diploma or GED when
they join the Corps.
One of our key goals
is to assist them to
achieve this goal so
they can access
meaningful and
sustainable work and
education
opportunities.
Our on-site John
Muir Charter High
School is a
fully accredited
California high
school, providing
daily classes designed
for young adults who
have had a tough time
succeeding in
traditional public
high schools.
Highly-skilled,
energetic teachers
work closely with each
student, linking
academics to work
experience, and
motivating students to
earn their high school
diplomas.
While Corpsmembers
attend classes, they
also learn lasting
tools to support a
life of achievement
and stability:
Critical thinking
Self-confidence
Leadership
Goal-setting
Life skills
Career

“SFCC
has been a
positive aspect in
my life. It keeps
me involved,
motivated and
dedicated to my
goals. I know for
a fact that SFCC
helps young adults
successfully
complete the
program with a
higher education
than they had when
they first
started. For
example, I am
attending SF City
College and am the
first in my family
to go to college.”
