Dear SF Community, Youth, Parents, Young Adults, Supporters & Fellow Youth Developers,

Let me begin by thanking all of you for your continued support and participation in San Francisco Conservation Corps' programming for youth and young adults. We have been around for over 22 years and many of you have been a part of our success.

Unfortunately, I must deliver a message that is not so joyful, but actually quite sad. As many of you have been informed, the SFCC will not be hosting a summer Youth in Action Program for 2005. As of June 2, 2005, our Board of Directors has affirmed the decision to end our youth program component all together. In short, we will no longer offer programs or direct service to youth ages 11-17 years old. We made this decision for several reasons, but most relevant here is a lack of appropriate space, budget constraints and lack of staffing. Finally, the agency is in a period of refocusing our efforts to better meet our mission of serving young adults, ages 18-26.

We realize that this is difficult to hear. And we are doing all that we can to provide suitable resources and referrals for you. Please contact Michelle Mateo if you would like more information. She is serving as the Associate Director of Corpsmember Development at our Fort Mason Center and can be reached at 415-928-7417 ext 313.

In the meantime, all of the SFCC staff look forward to finding new ways to partner with you and continue to have a positive impact on young adults and the communities we serve.

Sincerely,

Ann Cochrane
Executive Director

Michelle Mateo
